Introduction to Homeowner
Dear Pacifica Resident,

On behalf of Greenfield Communications, I would like to congratulate you on your new home purchase in Pacifica and welcome you to one of the first "Fiber to the Home" communities in the country. The Pacifica community is equipped with a state of the art "Fiber to the Home" (FTTH) System providing each resident with a dedicated high-speed fiber optic connection. Faster than today's DSL and Cable Modem, FTTH transmits data via light pulses, so you can truly communicate at the speed of light!

All residents in Pacifica will receive high-speed Ethernet data basic service and a local community Intranet. The cost for this basic service is included your Pacifica Community Association Fee. The basic high-speed data service will be speeds of up to 10.0 Megabits per second (Mbps) download and up to 3.0 Mbps upload and ten email addresses. This is thirteen times faster than the maximum speed of DSL and Cable Modem. In addition to the entire Pacifica Community being wired to a fiber optic high-speed data network, the network itself is connected via a "dedicated pipe" to the Internet.

An optical converter is located in the structured wiring panel of your master bedroom closet. The converter has outputs for Ethernet data, voice lines, and cable TV. Currently only Ethernet port #1 is activated and is connected to the data jack in the family room. Any other data jack in your house can be connected by simply disconnecting the feed to the family room within the structured wiring panel and connecting the desired data jack. The cost of the converter is included in the structured wiring for your home and comes with a one-year warranty (extended warranty options are available upon request). Home Networking can be accomplished with multiple data jacks by installing an Ethernet switch or Router/Firewall, and are available at local computer stores or by contacting the structured wiring contractor for your home. Please note that some configurations require the use of additional IP addresses (see the attached Expanded Service Offering). Greenfield technicians are available upon request to answer any questions regarding home networking.

Attachments to this letter include: instructions for configuring your computer to connect to the Internet; a list of expanded services available to Pacifica residents; and an application form to get setup for email (this can be done over the phone as well). In addition to the expanded services mentioned above, Greenfield plans to offer competing phone and cable TV service in the future.

The Pacifica Community Intranet is available at www.pacificasjc.org. You can use the email application form to obtain your user ID and password to access sections of the Intranet only available to Pacifica residents (this can be done over the phone as well).

Greenfield places the highest priority on customer service. Besides providing you the fastest Internet connection speeds we also want to provide you with the best customer service possible. Greenfield Customer Support is available 24/7. Our toll-free customer service number is 888-230-0020 if you have any problems or questions regarding your fiber optic high-speed data service.
